top five : tv shows

I mentioned in my first post after starting up my blog again that I wanted to mix things up a little this time and have more of a variety of post types. A new series that I'll be starting is my 'Top 5' series. I don't really need to explain it I hope as it's pretty self explanatory. I'll cover a whole range of topics within this eg. beauty, entertainment, food, etc.  So, here are my Top 5 TV Shows:

* I promise I'll avoid posting any sort of spoilers in this post for the sake of people who are watching/intend to watch any of these shows. *

A group of people are involved in an aeroplane crash and soon start to realise that the island they have ended up on is not quite normal.

Possibly a bit of a controversial one for my favourite ever TV show. If you've watched LOST before then you'll either love or detest how it ended. I personally loved it and thought it was such a fitting ending. I also feel like a lot of questions were answered which is another gripe people had with this show. The main thing I love about LOST is the character development. If I watch something on TV and I'm not invested in most of the characters then I'll switch off eventually. LOST really delves into these people's lives and relationships, from the good, happy times to the dark and sad times. I'm a bit ashamed to admit it but I think I've watched the whole show about five times over. I'm also thinking of doing another re-watch soon...

#2 The Walking Dead

Rick, the protagonist of the show, wakes up from a coma to find himself in the middle of a zombie outbreak.

A very close second on the list, and with the potential to move into #1 someday, is The Walking Dead. I am usually a complete wuss and I did start watching this show at first and had to stop because it was scaring me (no really, that's how much of a chicken I can be!). Eventually I decided to give it another go and I'm so glad that I did. The blood and gore doesn't bother me so much but I've finally just about gotten used to the jumpy bits. Again, the characters in this are my favourite thing and some of the baddies are downright badass. Infact, a lot of the goodies are downright badass (Michonne girl I'm talking about you!). I'm so excited to see what the end of season 5, and any future seasons, will bring.

#3 Orange is the New Black

Piper is sent to jail for a crime she commited several years ago. She gets to know the quirky inmates and learns that a blast from the past is also inside.

I suppose technically this isn't actually a TV show as it's a Netflix creation but I'm still gonna include it because it's just too good not to! I kept seeing people mention this show on Twitter last year so gave in to the hype and had a watch. I think I ended up watching both seasons within about 2 or 3 days because it had me hooked instantly. Season 3 is apparently out in June this year and it's felt like the longest wait ever. This show makes me giggle so much and is downright outrageous at times.. in a good way, of course!

#4 Friends

A group of hot-beverage-loving young adults from New York learning the rules of love and life, with lots of laughs along the way.

Now you just knew that there was no way that Friends wasn't going to be on this list. Although I'm sure many people will think it's a disgrace that it's only #4 on my list, sorry! I find that Friends is a show that you can watch over and over again and I'm pretty sure that I've seen certain episodes at least twenty times. I don't think any show along the same lines will ever come close to it. (Totally not making a dig at HIMYM. Ahem.)

#5 The Big Bang Theory

Leonard and Sheldon, best friends and roommates, are a pair of extremely intelligent and socially awkward physicists. Penny is a fun-loving and outgoing part time actress/waitress. What will happen when their worlds collide?

Finally on my list of favourite TV shows is The Big Bang Theory. I was introduced to this by Joel and didn't think it would be my thing. It turns out though that it totally is! The earlier seasons are probably the best but the later/current ones are still extremely watchable. As well as being really funny, you actually learn stuff from this show! Or at least I did anyway because I've never been the brainiest person when it comes to science. Maybe that's a little sad..

What are some of your favourite TV shows?

  1. Walking Dead is my favourite tv show ever! I love that it's so much more than just zombies. I'm a big fan of lost too :)

  2. I've never got into big bang theory - I just don't get the humour but I love Walking Dead, I don't think i've ever been into a tv show like I am with this! I wait every week for the next installment and get very impatient when it's a cliff hanger (like this week!!!). Also love OITNB - I'm waiting impatiently for the new season in summer. One of my other faves has to be Sex in the City and Breaking Bad

  3. Snap! I think I'll still be watching it in another ten years!

  4. Haha yeah cliffhangers are the worst! I don't know how I'm going to cope when this season ends. SITC and BB are two that I've never given a watch at all. Might have to see what all the fuss is about soon :)

  5. Yay another lost fan :) Yes definitely. Seeing how they manage to find new ways to take down zombies can be fun but other aspects of the show can be just as entertaining, especially the characters.

  6. i couldn't not reply here shah! i love tv series, my fav has always been lost! now i can't live without sherlock bbc , game of thrones and once upon a time(:
