a trip to: the vip experience at cineworld sheffield

Cineworld Sheffield have recently introduced their first VIP cinema experience here in good old Sheffield and I'd been so excited to give it a go. Our three year anniversary (I still can't believe it's already been that long!) came around and was obviously the perfect excuse, so off we went to watch Deadpool. Romantic, huh? It actually turned out to be one of the best films I've seen in a while but shhh, don't tell Joel I said that.

Tickets for the VIP experience are £29.00 each. I know that this probably sounds ridiculously expensive for a trip to the cinema but when you factor in everything you get I think it's a really good price, especially if it's for a bit of a special occasion like we made it. We arrived at the cinema 45 minutes before the film which is when the VIP lounge opens. Once we entered the lounge a lovely member of staff gave us a quick explanation of everything that's on offer and showed us to a table. Next up it was time for an unlimited buffet and soft drinks. The food on offer was lovely. There was a selection of pizzas, pastas, salad, soups, etc as well as various desserts. Don't get me wrong, it's not 5 star restaurant quality but would anyone really expect that?? Everything I tried was tasty (shout out in particular to the potato salad!) so there were no complaints from me at all. There's also a private bar on hand if you fancy buying an alcoholic tipple. The only tiny let down for us on the night we visited was that the lift up to the private toilets wasn't working, but I guess that's out of the cinemas hands and wasn't a biggy really!

The doors to the cinema screen opened up after everyone had pretty much finished with the buffet so of course we dashed straight to the cinema snacks area which again are completely unlimited. We'd been careful not to over-do it with the buffet but we still looked greedy with popcorn, hotdogs and nachos! If they're unlimited you've just gotta do it though, right? With our hands very full we then (carefully) made our way into the screening. Even though it's quite an intimate room with only 40 seats there was so much room! The chairs are also SO darn comfy. They're 'lazy boy' style seats that have a little table and even.. recline. Ugh, I could've fallen asleep I felt so relaxed.

In my opinion the VIP experience is such a great treat, even if it's something you only do once. It was easily the best trip to a cinema I've ever had and I'll definitely be going again in the future.

Would a VIP cinema experience be something you'd try?

the "perks" of a pet cat

Nearly two years ago now our little diva of a mog, Milly, walked into our lives. Like, quite literally walked through our front door one night and made herself at home. We have no idea where she came from although I think she may have been a stray for a while as she can still be quite feral when she wants to be.. not that you'd think it with that cute lil face. I posted on Facebook asking if she was anyone's cat and took her to the vets to see if she was micro-chipped but it was a no. So, after persuading Joel A LOT, we decided to keep her. Joel has never ever been a cat person but Milly has turned him into a big softy with her feline ways. Since she's been a part of our family our eyes have certainly been opened to some of the "perks" of having a pet cat:

Tidying up feels pointless most of the time - I'm 99% sure that Milly waits until I've just finished wiping the kitchen sides then she'll jump up and walk all over them. Thanks Mills, it's not like we have to prepare food on there or anything.. *gets disinfectant back out* Ugh. Not to mention the (what seems like) millions of cat hairs that are everywhere.

They have no shame when it comes to guests - Why is it that whenever you have someone round, that's the exact time your cat decides to do the smelliest poop in their litter tray?

Their bum. Your face. - I've lost count of the number of times I've woken up and the first delightful sight I've had is Milly's bum right next to my face.

A lack of privacy - Having a nice relaxing bath? Using the loo? Having sex? "No problem," says your cat "I'll just sit here and watch."

Buying new furniture is a risky business - She may have a scratching post and endless toys but that doesn't matter. Milly would rather use our new sofa as a play thing for her claws every now and again. Sob.

Mood swings worse than a teenager - You can be stroking and having a happy little cuddle with puss and then it's a ninja attack out of nowhere with their claws because they've had enough in the space of one second.

Despite of all the above we couldn't be without our Milly now. The biggest actual perk of owning a cat is that they're loyal, funny, cute and witty little creatures who make the perfect pet.

beauty haul #1

Since we've bought our own home beauty items seem to have gone to the bottom of my list of things to purchase. I just tend to buy the essentials when I need them. We've had a few big bills during the first few months whilst we've been figuring it all out, then I've been prioritising buying things for the house first and foremost, then clothes, then beauty. A couple of weeks back though I decided it was time for a mini splurge and these are the things that ended up in my basket:

Got2b Xpress Dry Styling Spray - I've never tried anything from Schwarzkopf's got2b range before but this little bottle caught my eye as I was browsing through the aisles in good old Boots. I'm someone who uses my hair dryer a lot (I can feel you all judging me) so anything that can help me cut down the time that I'm using it is all good. After trying this a couple of times I have mixed feelings about it, but I don't want to say too much because I'm planning a proper review in the future.

Nivea Post Shave Balm - So many bloggers seem to rave about this stuff being an amazing primer so when I saw it on offer for less than half price in Wilko I thought it was the perfect opportunity to nab it.

Lee Stafford Heat Protection Mist - If there's a product I'm forever changing it's heat protecting spray. I've just never really found one that I thought was doing something really good for my hair. After I've finished using this one I'll still be on the look out to be honest. It's not bad by any means but it's not wow either. Then again maybe heat protecting spray just isn't something that can be wow?

Barry M Mani Mask in Bashful - Another product that caught my eye whilst browsing Boots was this new release from Barry M. The mani masks are formulated to camouflage, colour and condition your nails all in one. There are two shades out and I opted for Bashful which is a lovely baby pink colour.

Sleek Lip VIP Lipstick in Private Booth - I've seen a few people mention these lipsticks from Sleek now and wanted to give one a try. I instantly fell in love with the shade Private Booth which is the perfect classic nude. Again, this is something I'll be writing a full review on soon.

Have you purchased any new beauty products lately?
